About Firae
Firae began as a return to textiles.
For a long time, painting had taken a quieter place while life gathered pace, cities changed and creativity took different forms.
One snowy evening in Toronto, I began painting again.
What started as a small return stretched into hours.
It didn’t feel new. It felt remembered.
At the centre of this exploration sits The Square.
A 22 × 22 inch cotton scarf , simple in form, yet open to interpretation.
A small shift of colour against a white shirt.
A quiet interruption in the rhythm of denim and stripes.
Something that softens the familiar uniform many of us reach for each morning , a sweater, a coat, a well-worn pair of jeans.
Over time, it becomes personal.
Worn often. Folded differently each day.
A small square of textile, carrying colour, attention, and expression into the everyday.
Firae lives in the space between painting and textile, an evolving practice shaped by observation, colour, and the simple act of telling about what we see.
