Made with Care
On the Matter of Making
My textile background inspired me to look at cloth as a document. It holds the record of how it was made: how it was grown, who finished it, how much care was taken. That education never left. It simply became the standard I hold everything to.
Which is why The Global Organic Textile Standard matters to me as it is one of the most rigorous certifications in textiles, not simply concerned with how cotton is farmed, but with every stage of processing that follows. What touches it. How it's treated. Firae's organic cotton voile is certified to the GOTS standard. Lightweight. Breathable. Fine enough to carry a hand-painted print with real clarity, and soft enough that you reach for it without thinking.
The making stays local. Each square is finished in small batches by neighborhood craft units - hands that know the work. The packaging envelopes are made with recycled paper, because the same care that goes into the cloth should carry through to how it arrives.
Firae is built on a simple belief that the person wearing the scarf and the planet it came from both deserve to be considered. Not as a policy. As practice.
